Connecting kids with kids while promoting cultural awareness and building language skills are the innovative goals of Postcards from Buster, a PBS Kids show that began as a single episode of Arthur before spinning-off into its own series in 2004. The show features Arthur's best pal, Buster Baxter, who travels the country with his airline pilot father recording his adventures on a video camera for his friends back in Elwood City. In a unique departure from traditional cartoons, Buster's animated character steps into live-action footage, interacts with children from all walks of American life, and briefly partakes in their family traditions and hobbies. "Buster's Outdoor Journeys" is a collection of four 22-minute episodes from the series, this time taking viewers on a journey from the bayous of Louisiana to a Midwest county fair, treating them to maple syrup in Vermont, farm life in Indiana, and giant pumpkins in Oregon. Each show incorporates an original song about the city or region to enhance the story while helping viewers learn the English language through repetition and rhyme. (Ages 4 to 8) Lynn Gibson
